Mario Kart: Arcade GP Unveiled
Console Favorite Racing Out of the Home
Date: 2-22-05 By: Ryan Cravens
The Amusement Machine Operators Union (AOU) tradeshow last week was the stage for the first glimpse of Mario Kart: Arcade GP. This game is the result of a partnership between Nintendo and Namco and the game uses the Tri-Force platform which was developed by Nintendo, Sega and Namco. For those of you who are not familiar with the Mario Kart series of games, these drivers have been on multiple consoles and they feature popular Nintendo characters racing each other. Characters like Mario and Donkey Kong are pitted against each other on insane tracks that also include items which will let you take down your opponents or help speed your character past the others.
There has never been an arcade version of these games and the initial pictures are amazing. The graphics look amazing, but there are a few surprises added including the addition of the NamCam2 which takes your picture and displays it over the character you are controlling so the other players can see who is beating them. There has also been the addition of Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man which is making gamers giggle like school children.
The game will be similar to the Mario Kart Games in which there was one driver. The latest console (Mario Kart Double Dash) version featured two drivers that would switch places. Mario Kart Arcade GP already has players across the internet foaming at the mouth with the classic one driver mode.
As soon as we get more information, we will pass it along to you.
